Responsibilities

• Determines and plans type and extent of microbiology services.
• Initiates advanced, non-standardized procedures and a full range of tests.
• Consults with pharmacists, Infection Control Nurse, technical representatives and others to ensure accuracy of results.
• Monitors quality improvement processes and updates standards and procedures for QC.
• Serves on the Infection Control committee and supervises staff in the microbiology section.
• Organizes work and delegates assignments among personnel according to standard duties.
