Job summary

Northwell Health seeks a Clinical Laboratory Operations Manager to oversee daily operations, staff, and quality control across multiple lab disciplines and shifts, delivering results through strong leadership and technical guidance.

The role requires a NY licensed CLT, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, and 6-8 years of technical experience with 2-5 years in leadership. You will hire, train, supervise, and drive performance while collaborating with clients and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Current License to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
• 6-8 years of technical experience, required and 2-5 years of leadership/management experience, preferred OR Master’s Degree with 2-4 years of technical experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership to Clinical Laboratory Operations' team members and supervisors by communicating and guiding toward achieving department objectives.
• Develops, communicates, and builds consensus for goals in alignment with the health system.
• Manages day-to-day activities and staff; hires, trains, disciplines, and supervises staff.
• Evaluates performance and ensures appraisals are completed on a timely basis; sets daily priorities and delegating work assignments; ensures scheduled staff hours and vacation provide adequate coverage; ensures maintenance of employee and operational records.
• Manages the development and validation of analytical methodologies for a wide range of pharmaceutical dosage forms.
• Ensures results by solving problems of a diverse scope; drives initiatives outside of standard work function; leads investigations.
• Collaborates and effectively communicates with clients and internal groups.
• Collaborates with business development and contracts to assist in project definition and costing.
• Ensures timely completion and compliance and all other relevant company training requirements.
• Motivates a high performing team to meet the current and evolving needs of the business through effective selection, training and development, coaching and mentoring and performance management.
