Job summary

Northside Hospital in Atlanta is seeking a Senior Clinical Ethicist to deliver expert level ethics consultations and lead program development across the system. You will collaborate with care teams, patients and families, oversee education and policy updates, and drive quality improvement through data analysis.

Reporting to the Ethics Service Program Manager, you will expand clinical practice, mentor peers, and contribute to national standards in ethics service excellence.

Qualifications

• Master's or doctoral degree in ethics, bioethics, philosophy, theology or healthcare field; PhD, JD, MD, RN or other healthcare degree.
• Post-Graduate Certificate in Bioethics from an accredited program if Master’s/PhD not in bioethics.
• Minimum 3 years clinical hospital experience.
• Minimum 2 years as Clinical Ethicist with case consultations.
• HEC-C certification from ASBH.
• Knowledge of ethics consultation methodologies and documentation.
• Experience with Cerner or similar EMR for ethics consultations.
• Familiarity with federal/state regulatory guidelines affecting ethics practices.
• Experience collecting data for quality measurement in ethics services.
• Proven ability to lead clinical projects with measurable outcomes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines and support education of staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person expert ethics consultations across the organization; 7 days/week, 365 days/year.
• Lead ethics rounds and care conferences with multidisciplinary teams; address complex issues.
• Provide operational leadership for planning, executing, and measuring ethics service outcomes.
• Analyze ethics data to support quality improvement and policy updates.
• Expand clinical practice through education and mentorship of Ethics Service staff.
