Northside Hospital Inc. is seeking a Senior Clinical Ethicist to provide expert-level ethics consultations and lead Ethics Service program development across the system.

Role emphasizes collaboration with care teams, patients and families, data-driven quality improvement, and policy updates in line with national ethics standards. Strong teaching and Microsoft Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or doctoral degree in ethics, bioethics, philosophy, theology or healthcare field; PhD, JD, MD, RN or other healthcare degree.
• Post-Graduate Certificate in Bioethics if Master’s/Doctoral degree is not in bioethics.
• Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in an acute care hospital in a clinical or similar role.
• Minimum 2-years full-time experience in an acute-care hospital as a Clinical Ethicist conducting healthcare ethics case consultation.
• Certification as Healthcare Ethics Consultant – Certified (HEC-C) from ASBH.
• Experience with Cerner or similar EMR for ethics consultations.

Responsibilities

• Providing in-person expert level clinical ethics consultations for all patient populations across the organization; 7 days/week, 365 days/year.
• Organizing and leading clinical ethics rounds and care conferences with multidisciplinary teams.
• Providing operational leadership in planning, execution, outcome measurement and analysis of Ethics Service consultations.
• Reviewing and analyzing Ethics Service consultation data for quality improvement and policy development.
• Expanding and growing the clinical practice of the Ethics Service’s Clinical Ethicists through education and mentorship.
