Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a climbing arborist in Gurnee, IL. You will be outdoors daily, climbing trees and performing pruning, removal and safety work for clients. You’ll operate chainsaws, chippers and lifts with a supportive crew and supervisor.

Starting pay is $30 per hour, with benefits and career development opportunities. This is an on-site position with up to 25% travel and a strong focus on safety and training.

Qualifications

• Interest in forestry, horticulture or landscaping and heights.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree orientation on hire.
• Ability to complete Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving on hire.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Work as part of a crew with ground staff and crew lead.
• Perform tree pruning and removal safely and skillfully for clients.
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood; install cables, bracing and lightning protection.
• Operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers and aerial lifts.
