Job summary

Community Action Works seeks a Lead Community Organizer and Northeast Regional Climate Justice Director to mobilize frontline communities in Massachusetts and co-coordinate Mass Power Forward. The role centers Black, Indigenous, and marginalized communities, advancing environmental justice and a just transition to clean energy.

You will work with local leaders, facilitate leadership, develop campaigns, and help fundraise while building a regional coalition across the Northeast.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of related work experience in community organizing, base-building, campaign coordination, environmental advocacy, and/or coalition building.
• Driver’s license and access to a car for work are preferred.
• Experience organizing in multi-racial, multi-generational, and cross-class settings; strong facilitation and strategic thinking.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate movement-building strategy with frontline community leaders to build regional power for health and justice.
• Co-lead Mass Power Forward to advance climate justice and energy transition goals.
• Lead workshops, coaching, and leadership development with communities, often remotely.
• Develop campaign strategies to address local environmental threats and mobilize partners.
• Organize movement-building events, conferences, and assemblies; build relationships with lawmakers and coalition partners.
• Participate in fundraising efforts including donor cultivation, grant-seeking, and events.
