Job summary

Auto Club Enterprises in Texas seeks a senior Claims Managing Attorney to lead in-house claims' legal offices, oversee attorneys and paralegals across multiple offices, and supervise the Subrogation section. The role ensures compliant, high-quality representation of insureds and the Exchange under policy terms and defense best practices.

Responsibilities include staffing and coaching, performance reviews, budget management, and delivering legal guidance to the Claims Business Unit.

Qualifications

• JD Required 7-9 years.
• Insurance defense law Required 1-3 years.
• Management experience preferred.
• Advanced leadership abilities required.
• Advanced interpersonal skills required.
• Advanced organizational and planning skills required.
• Advanced communication skills required.
• Must be member of state bar in state of practice.
• Certified Legal Professional - National Association of Legal Assistants required.

Responsibilities

• Staff and coach attorneys and paralegals; ensure proper staffing and training.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state labor and employment laws; approve forms and reports.
• Interview, screen and hire employees; budget management.
• Provide ongoing guidance and supervision to legal operations team.
• Conduct performance reviews; recommend salaries and raises.
• Address client concerns about attorney work product and service quality.
• Deliver legal opinions on policy interpretation and decisions; advise on manuals.
• Develop and present training programs for attorneys and staff.
• Prepare reports on files, metrics and goals for upper management.
