Job summary

Staples is seeking a Sr. Claims Specialist to lead liability claims management for general, auto, premises, and product liability. You’ll evaluate claims, monitor reserves, coordinate litigation, and partner with TPAs, insurers, and defense counsel to drive timely resolutions.

You will collaborate across Legal, Operations, Finance, HR, Safety, and external partners to reduce loss and improve processes. A Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in liability claims are required, with Master’s preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in risk management, Business Administration, Finance, Legal Studies, Insurance, or related work experience.
• 5+ years of progressively complex experience in liability claims management in an insurance, TPA or risk management environment.
• Experience handling or supporting claims involving general liability, auto liability, premises liability, product liability, or other casualty claims.

Responsibilities

• Manage liability claims across general, auto, premises, product, and other casualty exposures, evaluating liability, causation, damages, and resolution strategies.
• Coordinate with TPAs, insurers, investigators, experts, and defense counsel for timely investigations and effective claims handling.
• Manage assigned litigation from filing through resolution with defense counsel on strategy, discovery, and settlements.
• Review reserves, monitor exposures, and support actuarial reviews, reserve studies, and loss projections.
• Indemnification, additional insured status checks, and coordination of coverage with brokers and insurers.
• Support subrogation activities with Claims Associates and other resources to pursue recoveries.
• Conduct claim reviews and stewardship discussions with TPAs, monitoring service levels and adherence to guidelines.
• Collaborate with Legal, Operations, Finance, HR, Safety, brokers, and insurers to investigate claims and mitigate risks.
• Maintain complete RMIS records and generate reports for insurers, auditors, leadership, and stakeholders.
• Identify improvements to claims processes, reporting, analytics, and vendor performance.
