Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field with five years of claims & litigation management experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for diverse audiences and large groups.
• Ability to analyze, interpret and apply complex rules toward effective problem solving and claim evaluations.
• Ability to develop and deliver presentations conveying claim trends and information.
• Proficiency in using computer systems and databases with detailed data entry.
• Demonstrated customer service and superior negotiation skills.
• Strong planning, organization and multi-tasking abilities.
• Commitment to continuing education and skill development.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and manage claims and lawsuits, including on-site meetings and interviews.
• Determine appropriate coverage sources for named entities in claims.
• Negotiate settlements within delegated authority; obtain higher authority when needed.
• Coordinate with third party administrator on claim direction and resolution.
• Report claim trends to stakeholders and insurers; communicate timely updates.
• Provide training and knowledge transfer to UW Claim Services and other audiences.
• Prepare reports for CMS, licensing boards and data banks as required.
