Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Division, is seeking a Claims Manager in San Diego to provide strategic and operational leadership for multiple indemnity claim units through direct management of Claim Supervisors. This role drives claim quality, customer experience, financial performance, compliance, and employee engagement.

The position emphasizes data-driven decision making, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and continuous improvement in a hybrid work

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or 8+ years relevant experience.
• California adjusting designation or ability to obtain within 9 months of placement.
• 8+ years in workers compensation claims, with at least 3 years supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct, lead, and develop indemnity claim teams through Claim Supervisors.
• Ensure compliance with statutes, regulations, and company standards; pass audits.
• Monitor performance metrics and drive improvements in quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
• Oversee complex, high-exposure, litigated claims and risk management practices.
• Maintain financial integrity through reserving, settlement authority, and cost containment.
• Use data analytics to identify trends and drive operational improvements.
• Implement changes in laws, regulations, and best practices across the team.
• Coach and mentor supervisors; support leadership development and succession planning.
