Job summary

HAI Group in Cheshire, CT is seeking a Claims Examiner to manage liability claims across investigations, evaluations, reserving, and negotiations. You will document files thoroughly, coordinate with outside adjusters and legal counsel, and resolve claims in a timely, cost-effective manner.

The role requires reviewing coverage, interpreting policy provisions, and maintaining compliance with federal and state requirements. A strong customer-service mindset and teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of progressive liability claims handling experience.
• All lines property/casualty adjuster license.
• Ability to analyze and interpret coverage and prepare defensible correspondence.
• Litigated claims experience preferred.
• On-site training in Cheshire, CT for two weeks.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and evaluate liability claims; manage outside adjusters and legal counsel.
• Document files clearly and prepare timely reports.
• Direct settlement activity using investigative and problem-solving skills in negotiations.
• Handle assigned cases efficiently and cost-effectively through conclusion.
• Analyze and adjust reserves based on liability exposure and coverage.
• Review coverage and interpret policies; communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Adhere to department policies and maintain compliance with applicable laws.
• Build positive working relationships with internal and external business partners.
