Job summary

Merchants Insurance Group seeks an experienced Claims Coverage Counsel/Administrator for its Bedford, NH location. The role involves coverage opinions, dispute resolution, and coordinating with outside counsel on litigation strategy, with a focus on complex coverage scenarios and regulatory compliance.

Hybrid schedule; two days in-office weekly. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in insurance coverage or as an attorney, with strong writing and analytical skills, and the ability to train others

Qualifications

• JD preferred, with license in good standing
• Minimum 5 years of insurance coverage experience or practicing attorney experience
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Experience with construction and labor law litigation coverage issues related to risk transfer
• Ability to transfer knowledge through training and leadership

Responsibilities

• Prepare coverage opinions and coverage position letters for complex issues
• Direct outside counsel on litigation strategy
• Provide legal support to claims, underwriting and product development teams
• Review policy forms for updates and regulatory compliance
• Train claims staff on policy interpretation and regulatory matters
