Merchants Insurance Group seeks an experienced Claims Coverage Counsel or Claims Coverage Administrator to join the Claim Legal Team in Melville, NY. The role focuses on complex coverage analysis, preparation of coverage opinions, and coordinating with external counsel on litigation strategies.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in insurance coverage or as an attorney, with strong research and writing skills. Hybrid schedule with in-office and remote work supports collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree preferred, with license in good standing.
• Minimum 5 years of insurance coverage experience and/or practicing attorney experience.
• Proficiency with Westlaw or other legal research applications; CPCU desirable.

Responsabilités

• Prepare coverage opinions and letters for complex coverage issues.
• Assist claims professionals in evaluating risk transfer opportunities and tender strategies.
• Direct coverage litigation strategy with outside counsel.
• Provide legal support to underwriting, product development and regulatory compliance.
• Review policy forms for updates and regulatory compliance.
• Train claims staff on policy interpretation and regulatory requirements.
