Job summary

Liberty Mutual Group is seeking a Staff Attorney in San Francisco, CA to independently manage moderately complex civil litigation matters involving insurance claims. The role requires a JD, CA bar admission, and at least 5 years of trial experience, with strong negotiation, research, and client-relations skills.

You will lead cases through discovery, motions, hearings, and trials while mentoring junior staff and collaborating with Claims Representatives.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission in California and in good standing.
• Minimum of 5 years of successful trial attorney experience, preferably in insurance litigation.
• Strong knowledge of insurance law and complex civil litigation.
• Proficient in advanced research, negotiation, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage all phases of litigation for moderate to heavy exposure cases (up to $500,000).
• Lead settlement negotiations; participate in hearings, trials and mediations.
• Support senior trial and litigation counsel in all aspects of case handling through trial.
• Develop, implement, and refine advanced legal strategies; manage discovery, investigation, and trial prep.
• Mentor junior attorneys and legal staff; provide training and guidance.
