Job summary

ORION in Houston seeks a Senior Civil Construction Superintendent to execute project activities safely, efficiently, and on schedule. You will lead field crews, coordinate with subcontractors and project teams, read blueprints, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with contract documents and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in civil construction with 5+ years in supervision, plus a degree in construction management or related field.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of civil construction experience.
• Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
• Degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and project documents.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Understanding of scheduling and resource allocation.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and site safety best practices.
• Basic computer skills (email, Excel, and construction management software).

Responsibilities

• Ensure construction work complies with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Coordinate daily activities of field crews, subcontractors, and vendors to meet project schedules.
• Monitor and report on project progress, productivity, and compliance with specifications.
• Read and interpret civil construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Verify materials and work performed comply with contract documents.
• Track and manage equipment, manpower, and material needs.
• Assist in developing look-ahead schedules and daily work plans.
• Provide leadership and clear direction to field personnel.
• Collaborate with project engineers, foremen, QA/QC, and safety personnel.
• Identify and resolve field conflicts or constructability issues with minimal disruption.
• Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, timesheets, and logs.
• Enforce company policies and procedures, including safety requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality of company operations and projects.
• Adhere to safety responsibilities and collaborate to maintain a safe workplace.
• Stop work when unsafe conditions are observed and report violations.
