Job summary

City Light & Power, Inc. CLPE is a high-growth electric utility solutions firm offering end-to-end engineering from planning to field operations.

We seek a Civil/Structural Engineer-Power Systems Eng IV with 8+ years in power systems site development to design, plan, and manage substation and transmission projects. You will collaborate across departments, manage budgets, mentor junior engineers, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an accredited university (required).
• Eight plus (8+) years of civil engineering work experience with focus on power systems site development projects (required).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license (required); CA PE License (preferred).
• Strong technical proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design software.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards related to power systems infrastructure design, construction, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed project plans, designs, and cost estimates for power systems site development projects, including substations, transmission lines, and distribution systems.
• Analyze project requirements and create technical specifications, calculations, and drawings for the projects in compliance with codes and standards.
• Provide recommendations to improve project feasibility, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Prepare all civil and structural designs for various projects.
• Coordinate with other departments, project teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources, and ensure timely completion of projects within budget and on schedule.
• Conduct site visits, inspections, and quality control checks to ensure that projects meet design and regulatory requirements and ensure that all documentation and reports are accurate and up-to-date.
• Collaborate with other engineers, planners, and stakeholders to identify and evaluate potential project risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
• Mentor junior engineers and review and approve their work products.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, materials, and methods in the power systems infrastructure field, and recommend new approaches to improve project outcomes.
