Job summary

Qualus in Colorado seeks a Senior Civil Structural Engineer to design mat and pier foundations for substations and to prepare structures ranging from equipment supports to overhead towers. You will ensure quality and cost control in alignment with client standards.

The role includes applying codes, preparing layouts, elevations, grading, and BOMs, and mentoring junior staff while coordinating with other disciplines and site teams.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 8–10 years of civil structural engineering experience.
• 7+ years substation experience; PE certification preferred.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and MicroStation; strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual and detailed designs for substation foundations and structures.
• Create steel structure models for rigid bus and equipment supports.
• Apply codes and client standards across layouts, elevations, and BOMs.
• Participate in QA/QC processes and client meetings; mentor staff.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and external partners.
