Job summary

thyssenkrupp Uhde USA is seeking a Civil Structural Engineer to execute structural engineering and design documents within budget, schedule, and quality targets. You will report to the Lead Structural Engineer and the Engineering Manager in a strong matrix organization.

The role requires extensive experience in design and field coordination across North America, with responsibilities including sealing contract documents and guiding project teams and vendors.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Civil or Structural Engineering with emphasis on structural steel and concrete design.
• 18+ years minimum civil structural engineering experience in the industry (MS degree may count toward 1 year).
• Structural engineering experience in power, petrochemical, heavy industrial, chemical plants and heavy industrial process industry.
• Professional Engineering (P.E.) license.
• Ability to promptly obtain additional P.E. license and/or registration as needed for business.
• Ability to operate as Designated Professional (or similar depending on jurisdiction) as necessary for business.
• Continual maintenance of professional registrations obtained.
• Holds NCEES record.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with a group of engineers and designers providing technical direction primarily at a project level.
• Ability to seal engineering documents including foundations, piling, anchor bolt layouts, structural arrangements and compressor foundations.
• Sets priorities and reconciles conflicting interests over the duration of a project.
• Demonstrates professional and ethical responsibilities.
• Serves as a technical resource communicating discipline expertise to project team and vendors.
• Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of engineering work for a project.
• Plans, schedules or coordinates preparation of documents for multiple projects.
• Reviews procedures to ensure policy and performance compliance.
