Job summary

Prince George’s County Government’s Department of Public Works & Transportation seeks a Project Manager (Engineer 4G) to oversee the Road Construction Division, supervise staff, manage CIP projects, and administer contracts.

The role requires a PE license, a Civil/Environmental/Transportation engineering degree, and at least four years of professional experience with two in a supervisory capacity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the engineering field (e.g., civil, environmental, transportation, architectural, mechanical, fire protection, agricultural, agronomy, chemical, industrial, construction).
• Four (4) years of progressive professional experience in the appropriate engineering field, to include at least two (2) years of lead/supervisory experience.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) License is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee engineering, technical, and administrative functions within the Road Construction Division.
• Manage Capital Improvement Program (CIP) construction projects, including grant-funded roadway improvement initiatives.
• Administer construction contracts from project inception through completion, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, technical specifications, schedules, budgets, and regulatory standards.
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including daily construction reports, correspondence, payment estimates, change orders, financial records, and other project-related documentation.
• Monitor contract funding allocations and expenditures, ensuring effective financial management and adherence to approved budgets.
• Coordinate closely with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure quality construction and minimal disruption to residents during project implementation.
• Utilize the Pavement Assessment & Management System (PAMS) to evaluate roadway conditions and support pavement management decisions.
