Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• PE license required, Illinois preferred.
• 6+ years of experience in transportation or roadway design.
• Proficiency in IDOT-related design software: MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Solid understanding of roadway design, drainage and construction documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop roadway and transportation design plans in accordance with IDOT standards, manuals, and procedures.
• Perform engineering calculations, quantity takeoffs, and design documentation for project phases (Phase I/II/III).
• Apply IDOT design criteria including geometric design, drainage, maintenance of traffic, and specifications.
• Coordinate with project managers, CAD staff, and other discipline engineers.
• Review and check design work prepared by junior engineers and technicians for accuracy and compliance.
• Assist in the preparation of project deliverables, reports, and contract documents.
• Participate in IDOT coordination meetings and respond to agency comments as needed.
• Support project schedules and deliverable deadlines through efficient design production.
• Maintain familiarity with current IDOT policies, manuals, and evolving standards.
