Job summary

D escoto Inc seeks a Project Engineer V to manage civil transportation design projects, lead disciplines, and ensure on-time delivery within budget for Illinois agencies such as IDOT and Tollway. You will supervise scope, schedule, and client communications while mentoring junior staff.

You will prepare plans and cost estimates, coordinate CAD modeling in MicroStation/OpenRoads, and serve as PM or Engineer of Record. A Illinois PE license and 10+ years of experience are expected.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of experience.
• Professional Engineer license in Illinois is required.
• Proficient in Bentley MicroStation SS10 and OpenRoads Designer.
• Knowledge of IDOT/Illinois Tollway standards and specifications.
• ISTHA trainings or certifications preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review transportation design plans, specs, quantities, and estimates per standards.
• Lead geometric design and CAD modeling for roadways, highways, sidewalks, and paths.
• Coordinate with Design Manager, Project Engineers, and multi-discipline teams to deliver projects.
• Follow up with subconsultants on schedules and deliverables.
• Serve as PM and/or Engineer of Record, assisting scoping, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Attend client and public meetings.
• Mentor and delegate work to junior staff.
• Prepare scopes of work and level of effort estimates.
• Apply client and industry specifications to projects.
