Job summary

ExxonMobil is seeking an attorney with strong litigation experience to manage civil, tort, commercial and environmental matters from ExxonMobil's Spring Campus near Houston. The attorney will handle a diverse docket and work independently with appropriate supervision based on experience.

You will collaborate with outside counsel, provide business-focused legal advice, review pleadings, and align litigation goals with corporate objectives while upholding high ethical standards.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• License to practice law in at least one state (Texas bar membership preferred).
• Experience with trials and managing significant litigation matters.
• Civil Procedure and Rules of Evidence knowledge.
• Strong research and analytical skills with sound business judgment.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal analysis and counsel on current or potential litigation matters for Exxon Mobil Corporation and for Company affiliates.
• Actively manage a docket of civil litigation matters, including strategy, depositions, hearings and appeals.
• Provide counsel on indemnity and insured issues, incident investigations, and risk management.
• Coordinate with outside counsel to ensure proper handling of matters and financial stewardship.
• Directly handle a significant case load with minimal supervision.
• Review and shape documents and pleadings related to litigation.
• Ensure alignment between litigation objectives and business line objectives.
• Communicate with business clients and law management about strategies and milestones.
• Collaborate with other lawyers and with legal operations and paralegals on discovery.
