Job summary

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (KCPAO) seeks a Paralegal II to support Civil Division litigation. You will collaborate with Prosecuting Attorneys on case preparation, discovery management, and document review.

Qualified candidates have 5+ years Civil litigation experience and strong knowledge of legal procedures and software. This hybrid Seattle position requires in-office presence several days weekly.

Qualifications

• 5+ years Civil litigation experience in personal injury, tort, or employment.
• Knowledge of legal office practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of Washington local, state, and federal court rules and policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of complex filing systems.
• Knowledge of Legal Files software and Relativity eDiscovery platform.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and conduct business professionally.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Research, investigate, compile, review, and document information in tort and employment lawsuits.
• Oversee case organization, analyze and prepare complex discovery, manage electronic discovery, and assist with trial prep.
• Draft, prepare, and respond to a variety of legal documents such as complaints, answers, briefs, discovery, motions, and replies.
• Read and summarize deposition transcripts, medical and employment records and other docs.
• Draft letters, memos, and other correspondence.
• Attend Race, Equity and Social Justice trainings; participate in related discussions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
