Job summary

Qualifications

• 2+ years of civil litigation experience focused on family law.
• Experience with complex divorce matters involving assets preferred.
• Experience drafting pleadings, motions, declarations, discovery requests and responses.
• Familiarity with Washington and Federal rules of civil procedure.

Responsibilities

• Manage own cases and assist Senior Paralegal on more complex matters.
• Organize case files, documentation, and billing entries for accuracy.
• Draft pleadings, motions, complaints, answers, declarations, discovery responses, notices and legal correspondence.
• Conduct legal research, investigate facts, analyze matters, and assist attorneys in developing arguments.
• Coordinate discovery, depositions, service of process, attorney calendars, and litigation deadlines.
• Prepare trial and hearing materials, exhibits, and trial binders; provide support during civil trials.
• Track changes to local, state, and federal court rules and procedures, especially King County Superior Court.
• Assist with asset inventories, valuations, and financial matters in divorce, trust, and estate cases; coordinate with CPAs.
• Support trust funding and closing activities, including asset distributions and transfers.

Junior Paralegal - Family Law Civil Litigation

The ideal candidate is a proactive Family Law Paralegal or Legal Assistant with litigation experience and the discretion, sound judgment, and attention to detail required to manage complex divorce cases, navigate detailed financial discovery, and contribute actively to trial preparation.

Paralegal Responsibilities:

• This role will take on their own cases as well as work directly under a Senior Paralegal on other more complex cases.
• Manage case files, documentation, and billing entries to ensure accuracy and organization.

Paralegal Qualifications:

• 2+ years of civil litigation experience focused on family law, including case management and trial preparation.
• Experience with complex divorce matters involving business, tax, trust, estate, or significant assets is preferred, experience in employment law is a plus.
• Related degree, paralegal education or certification is a plus.
• Experience drafting pleadings, motions, declarations, discovery requests and responses, correspondence, and other legal documents.
• Experience managing discovery and document production, including e-filing and e-service.
• Familiarity with Washington and Federal rules of civil procedure.
• Strong organizational, communication, and technology skills, with proficiency in legal research tools, case management software, and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to manage competing priorities with accuracy, sound judgment, and high attention to detail.
• Collaborative, proactive approach with the ability to work effectively and partner with other paralegals, attorneys, clients, and court personnel.
