Job summary

Ember Grey is seeking a Civil & Geotechnical Engineering Lead to spearhead civil, geotechnical, tailings, and earthworks for a major copper mining development in Arizona. The role acts as the Owner's technical representative, providing oversight from feasibility through commissioning to ensure safe, practical, and cost-effective designs integrated in an IPD environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical related field.
• 10+ years of engineering experience on mining, heavy industrial, infrastructure, or major capital projects.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong background managing engineering consultants and contractors.
• Extensive experience with earthworks, civil infrastructure, and geotechnical engineering.
• Experience supporting construction, field execution, and resolving site issues.
• Solid understanding of standards, regulatory requirements, permitting, and risk management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil, geotechnical, tailings, and earthworks engineering across the project area.
• Act as Owner's technical representative, ensuring designs meet objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Oversee design/review of tailings facilities, site grading, drainage, roads, foundations, utilities, water management, and earthworks.
• Review/approve geotechnical investigations, foundation recommendations, slope stability, ground improvement, and seismic design.
• Coordinate inputs across process, structural, mechanical, mining, tailings, and construction teams.
• Manage consultants/contractors, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget.
• Lead workshops, design reviews, constructability reviews, HAZOPs, and risk assessments.
• Provide technical support during construction (RFIs, field changes, NCRs, issue resolution).
• Support planning, project controls, cost forecasting, risk management, and change control.
• Promote safety leadership and environmental/quality objectives.
