Job summary

ADP, Inc. in Bethel, NC seeks a Civil Field Manager to lead civil construction on utility-scale solar, battery storage, and electrical infrastructure.

You will supervise field crews, coordinate subcontractors, review drawings, and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence. You will develop short-term and look-ahead schedules, monitor productivity and costs, and work with Project Management, Engineering, Safety, and Quality teams to resolve field issues.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive civil construction experience.
• 3+ years in a field leadership role (Civil Superintendent/General Superintendent/Field Manager).
• Experience with earthwork, grading, drainage, utilities, foundations, and concrete.
• Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specs, surveys, and schedules.
• Experience with scheduling and project management systems.
• Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, sequencing, and productivity.
• Identify constructability issues and provide field solutions.
• Excellent communication and leadership; able to adapt to fast-paced projects.
• Willingness to travel extensively to remote sites; OSHA 30 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day civil construction activities for utility-scale solar and related infrastructure projects.
• Direct and coordinate civil subcontractors, site crews, operators, surveyors, and field personnel.
• Oversee site grading, excavation, drainage, erosion and sediment control, roads, foundations, utilities, trenching, concrete.
• Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and documents to ensure field execution aligns with design.
• Coordinate daily activities with Project Management, Engineering, Electrical, Procurement, Safety, Quality, and subcontractors.
• Develop and maintain short-term and look-ahead schedules for civil activities.
• Monitor productivity, manpower, equipment usage, material availability, and subcontractor performance.
• Identify field issues and delays; work with leadership to develop solutions.
• Coordinate surveying and layout activities; verify tolerances.
• Ensure compliance with specifications, permits, environmental requirements, and codes.
• Partner with Safety to maintain a strong safety culture and compliance.
• Collaborate with Quality Control/QA to meet project requirements.
• Review subcontractor work, quantities, daily reports, and progress versus contract.
• Assist with tracking costs, change orders, time impacts, and potential claims; participate in meetings.
• Maintain field documentation: daily reports, progress quantities, photos, inspection records, as-builts.
• Support commissioning and turnover activities related to civil scopes.
• Mentor Civil Superintendents, Foremen, and field personnel.
• Perform other duties to successfully deliver the project.
