Job summary

Stratus is seeking a Senior Engineer - Civil/Site with strong public sector experience to lead the design of civil/site and utility infrastructure projects, focusing on water and wastewater systems. The candidate will prepare plans, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with project managers, clients, and agency stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)
• 7+ years of progressive experience in civil/site and utility infrastructure design
• Significant experience delivering public sector projects, including water and wastewater system design
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (required)
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior staff
• Ability to prepare plans and construction documents independently with minimal oversight
• Strong understanding of civil engineering design standards, permitting, and plan production workflows
• Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with project stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Prepare civil/site and utility design plans for public sector projects, including water distribution systems
• Develop plan sets, profiles, details, and technical drawings for construction documents
• Perform design calculations and support preparation of technical specifications
• Coordinate permitting requirements and agency standards for public infrastructure projects
• Lead and mentor junior staff and CAD designers
• Review work products for quality and adherence to standards
• Coordinate with internal disciplines, subconsultants, and external stakeholders
• Participate in client and agency meetings and design reviews
• Support field investigations and construction-phase services as needed
