Job summary

Apex Companies in Vancouver, Washington is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead design and project management for local and state transportation projects. You will mentor staff, manage client relations, and support pursuits to grow our regional practice.

The role involves delivering projects from planning through construction, collaborating with the Vancouver office and multidisciplinary teams to expand our transportation work in Southwest Washington.

Qualifications

• 8+ years' experience leading design and PM of local/state transportation projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and professional registration (P.E.) in Washington and/or Oregon
• A solid understanding of civil design and construction standards, and environmental conditions/constraints.
• A proven history of meeting project timelines and budgets.
• Demonstrated skills developing relationships with local municipalities and utilities
• Familiarity with local code requirements
• Ability to develop creative engineering solutions to address project constraints
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, staff and management.
• Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation InRoads, HyrdoCAD, WWHM2012

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technical lead on cumulative project total >$750K annually.
• Contribute to successful business development of >$250K annually.
• Estimate and budget labor hours for design projects; review job costing reports and take corrective action, as necessary.
• Establish and maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction and ensure that client objectives are met.
• Mentor young design professionals.
• Participate in business development opportunities.
• Participate in professional organizations and functions.
