Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation (PennDOT) seeks a Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor (Transportation) to guide contract management, review plans, and ensure quality across PS&E submissions. The role oversees contract document preparation, schedule coordination, and data management within the Contract Management Unit.

Full-time position with standard 8–hour workdays. Telework up to 5 days per pay period is possible; in-office presence in Allentown may be required.

Qualifications

• Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty or six years with Engineer-in-Training certificate.
• Two years of professional civil engineering experience with a bachelor's degree.
• Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
• An associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Plan Review: Examine construction plans, specifications, and estimates for accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Contract Oversight: Supervise preparation and assembly of contract documents and amendments.
• Quality Control: Ensure PS&E submissions meet policies, requirements, and legal standards.
• Schedule Coordination: Manage plan submissions, advertisement timelines, and letting activities.
• Bid Support: Attend pre-bid meetings and review bid justifications and results.
• Data Management: Maintain project data, cost estimates, and specifications in required systems.
