Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor (Transportation) at PennDOT to lead stormwater planning, design reviews, and district program oversight. You will supervise staff, assess assets, and ensure designs meet safety and regulatory standards.

You will coordinate with construction units and external agencies to resolve engineering challenges and support compliance across programs.

Qualifications

• Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
• Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
• Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Supervise engineering staff and review work involving stormwater planning and corrective actions
• Project Assessment: Evaluate stormwater assets and recommend repairs, replacements, or improvements based on performance data
• Design Review: Oversee hydrologic calculations, Post Construction Stormwater Management (PCSM) plans, inspection findings, and corrective action proposals
• Program Oversight: Coordinate Municipal Separate Storm System (MS4) and stormwater management activities to maintain compliance with federal and state rules
• Inspection Support: Participate in condition assessments and visual screenings to ensure quality and consistency
• Technical Coordination: Work with construction units and outside agencies to resolve stormwater-related engineering challenges
