Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services group serving the Kentucky/Tennessee region, including Nashville.

You will design and manage civil/site projects, lead a team of professionals, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary offices to deliver high-quality infrastructure solutions. In this employee-owned culture, you will advance permitting, manage client relationships, and act as a technical expert on complex tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• PE license required.
• 10+ years of civil/site design and project management experience.
• Active participation in our employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Design and plan production on a wide variety of commercial and industrial projects, including site planning and layouts, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering infrastructure activities.
• Prepare specifications and contract documents, and costs estimates.
• Advance permitting requirements.
• Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity as needed.
• Function both independently and within HDR project teams.
• Plan, organize and supervise work of a medium to large staff of professionals and technicians as needed; Help with the initial recruitment to build the staff.
• Serve as a Project Manager on larger projects, although project management is not the sole focus of this position.
• Be responsible for client management and program development within the Civil Section.
• Understand HDR's work‑sharing mentality regarding other offices in the region.
• Perform other duties as needed
