Job summary

HDR is actively seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services group serving the Kentucky/Tennessee area. The role covers design, planning, and management of civil/site projects including drainage, grading, paving, and utilities.

Responsibilities include preparing specs and cost estimates, advancing permitting, and serving as a technical expert on complex projects. Preference for leaders with local market knowledge and an active participant in our employee‑owned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and PE license required.
• Minimum 10 years of design experience managing civil/site projects.
• Project engineering and project management experience required.
• Active participation in HDR’s employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Design and plan production for commercial and industrial projects.
• Prepare specifications, contract documents and cost estimates.
• Advance permitting requirements and manage related tasks.
• Perform complex assignments with advanced engineering techniques.
• Serve as a technical expert with authority in a specialty area.
• Work independently and within HDR project teams.
• Plan, organize and supervise staff; assist with recruitment as needed.
• Serve as a Project Manager on larger projects; PM is not the sole focus.
• Oversee client management and program development within Civil Section.
• Understand HDR’s work‑sharing mentality across offices in the region.
• Perform other duties as needed.
