Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Tampa, FL is seeking a senior Civil Engineer to contribute to the design, modification and analysis of power plant, substation, transmission line and other heavy industrial projects within a multi-disciplinary team.

You will perform civil site development, calculations, designs and specifications, coordinate with project managers, clients and vendors, and potentially guide junior engineers. Occasional travel and a hybrid in-office schedule are expected.

Qualifications

• A B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program.
• PE license required. Preferably in Florida but other states are acceptable.
• Ten or more years of working in a project team environment in the design of heavy industrial projects, power plant experience preferred, with specific experience in site grading and mass earthwork, storm water management, sanitary sewage systems, process wastewater systems, and road and railroad track design.
• Experience in technical writing for reports, calculations, and specifications for civil engineering activities.
• Experience in preparing, submitting, and obtaining site related design and environmental permits from a wide variety of regulatory agencies.
• Proficiency with one or more of the following civil engineering design tools: AutoDesk Civil 3D, StormCad, PondPack, and AutoTurn,
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to work in a team environment is essential.
• This position in based in Tampa, FL and may require occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Design and modify civil aspects of power plant, substation, and heavy industrial projects.
• Prepare calculations for storm water drainage, earthwork, and drainage design.
• Prepare technical specifications and site layouts for 3-D models and drawings.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients and vendors, and permitting agencies.
• Review contractor and material submittal drawings and other vendor documentation for conformity with technical specifications.
• There is the potential for travel to client offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs.
