Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead civil design teams across diverse projects, driving design from concept to completion. You will manage schedules, budgets and interfaces with clients, vendors and multiple disciplines while delivering high-quality, code-compliant designs.

You will mentor engineers, oversee QA/QC, and help grow business with strategic pursuits in a dynamic, ESOP-enabled environment in California.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 7 years civil engineering experience.
• Bachelor Degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of FE exam and 7 years civil engineering experience.
• Master Degree in Civil Engineering and 6 years civil engineering experience.
• Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members.
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills and analytical problem-solving abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and collaboration skills.
• Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
• Ability to travel.
• Professional Engineer (PE) License for California preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil design of projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Prepare civil equipment specifications, RFQ's, bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
• Review civil vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients and other disciplines.
• Participate in development of project schedule, scope, budget and staffing; manage change orders.
• Evaluate and apply civil engineering knowledge to complex projects; develop non-standard design solutions.
• Quality review production drawings to ensure compliance with standards and constructability.
• Coordinate field inspections, testing of materials and construction administration.
• Lead field inspections and measurements for public and private clients.
• Prepare and present technical reports for clients and publications.
• Build relationships with clients and contractors; pursue new business opportunities.
