Job summary

County of Tulare seeks an experienced Engineer IV for the Resource Management Agency in Visalia, CA. You will supervise engineers and staff across civil engineering projects, from planning to bid, ensuring compliance with county standards and laws.

Qualified candidates will have a Civil Engineering degree and at least four years' progressive experience, including leadership. A registered professional engineer license is required by appointment.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience, one (1) of which was in a lead supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities

• Act as supervising engineer on design, construction, maintenance or specialty projects; direct the work of engineers, survey parties, drafters and aides in studies, designs, estimates and reports.
• Research laws; perform complex engineering work for drainage, bridges, highways, water/wastewater, flood control; coordinate construction projects; administer contracts and inspect work.
• Direct and supervise field inspections, permit issuance/inspection, and environmental reports; prepare contract specifications and bid documents; liaise with public agencies and the public.
