Job summary

The City of Tulare is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead the Engineering Division, overseeing capital improvements, land development reviews, and traffic/transportation engineering. This role reports to the City Engineer and Deputy City Engineer and requires delivering high-level planning and project management with strong public communication.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or a related field).
Five (5) years of professional experience in civil/traffic engineering, including supervisory experience.
Possession of a valid Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California.
Possession of or ability to obtain, a valid Class C California Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

Manages and oversees complex civil engineering projects across streets, storm drains, transportation and utility systems.
Reviews and approves land development projects and subdivision plans.
Sets department goals, drafts ordinances, and monitors state and federal regulatory changes affecting municipal engineering.
Supervises staff and provides technical guidance on complex design and construction tasks.
Represents the Engineering Department at meetings and on advisory committees.
