Job summary

BKF Engineers in California is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with a strong Land Development background to lead project delivery, provide technical leadership, and mentor junior staff. You will manage residential, commercial, and public infrastructure projects, coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited) required.
• PE license required or California preferred.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible land development experience.
• Strong site development design skills (grading, drainage, utilities, roadways).
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.
• Demonstrated project management, budgeting, and client coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of land development projects including residential, commercial, mixed-use, industrial, and public infrastructure developments.
• Prepare and oversee grading, drainage, stormwater, utility, and roadway improvement plans.
• Develop technical reports, studies, specifications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, invoicing, and resource allocation to ensure successful project delivery.
• Serve as a primary client contact and coordinate with agencies, consultants, and project stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership, QA/QC review, and mentorship to engineering and design staff.
• Support entitlement, permitting, and construction-phase services as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable Federal, State, County, and local design standards and regulations.
