Job summary

BKF Engineers is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer specializing in Land Development to lead project delivery, provide technical leadership, mentor junior staff, and drive client relationships. You will manage land development projects from concept through design and construction support, ensuring deliverables meet scope, schedule, and budget while maintaining high quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited) or equivalent.
• PE license required (California PE preferred).
• 7+ years of progressively responsible land development experience.
• Strong site development design experience (grading, drainage, utilities, roadways).
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Demonstrated project management, budgeting, and client coordination.
• Strong technical, communication, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of land development projects including residential, commercial, mixed-use, industrial, and public infrastructure developments.
• Prepare and oversee grading, drainage, stormwater, utility, and roadway improvement plans.
• Develop technical reports, studies, specifications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, invoicing, and resource allocation to ensure successful project delivery.
• Serve as a primary client contact and coordinate with agencies, consultants, and project stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership, QA/QC review, and mentorship to engineering and design staff.
• Support entitlement, permitting, and construction-phase services as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable Federal, State, County, and local design standards and regulations.
