Job summary

BKF Engineers, Inc. seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to lead land development and civil infrastructure projects across California. You will guide multidisciplinary teams from concept to completion, mentor junior staff, and maintain clear client communication.

Candidates should hold a California PE license or be licensed elsewhere and demonstrate strong AutoCAD and Civil 3D expertise. This role involves project strategy, design delivery, and coordination across BKF offices.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program (required).
• Minimum 6+ years of site development experience, including residential/commercial subdivisions, utilities, roadways, and public works.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license in California (highly preferred).
• Mastery of AutoCAD and Civil 3D (required).
• Strong communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead project design for site development including grading, drainage, and utilities.
• Prepare technical reports, master planning studies, specs, and cost estimates.
• Assist with budgeting, scheduling, client communication, and invoicing.
• Collaborate with design teams to ensure cohesive project delivery across disciplines.
• Develop final design packages for roadways with plans, profiles, and cross sections.
• Incorporate streetscape elements into roadway designs.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with federal, state, city, and county standards.
• Mentor junior staff and support quality control.
