Job summary

The City of Garland seeks a proactive Development Civil or Senior Civil Engineer to review and approve private land development designs and public drainage projects, ensuring compliance with city standards and regulations. The role focuses on plan review for subdivisions and site developments, and coordination with officials and consultants.

Senior positions add responsibilities for CLOMR/LOMR reviews, CRS reporting, and contract approvals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas.
• 7+ years of land development experience required for Senior; 4-6 years for Civil.
• Equivalent education/experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Review and manage residential and commercial land development projects, including engineering plan review and entitlements.
• Lead interdepartmental design reviews to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide guidance on water, wastewater, drainage regulations and FEMA floodplain management.
• Utilize GIS to analyze stormwater data and create maps for decision making.
• Manage selected Capital Improvement Projects and other public works initiatives.
• Stay current with trends in development engineering and participate in professional development.
