Job summary

The City of Garland seeks a proactive Development Civil or Senior Civil Engineer to join the Development Engineering Group. You will manage, review and approve private land development designs and public drainage projects to ensure compliance with city ordinances and all regulatory requirements.

This role supports planning infrastructure, attends Development Review Committee meetings, coordinates with consultants and residents, and guides hydrology and floodplain work using GIS and CAD tools.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited school.
• Professional Engineer (Texas) license.
• 7 years of experience in land development projects.
• Experience designing, submitting and obtaining development permits.
• Ability to manage multiple projects to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Review, coordinate, and manage residential subdivision and commercial site development projects.
• Represent the Engineering Dept. at Development Review Committee meetings.
• Lead interdepartmental design reviews for code compliance and constructability.
• Provide technical guidance on water, wastewater, drainage regulations and floodplain management.
• Manage high-paced development processes and review permits for accuracy.
• Utilize GIS and CAD tools to analyze stormwater data and create maps.
