Job summary

The US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is seeking a senior Civil Engineer to lead engineering-based flood studies and mapping projects in support of the National Flood Insurance Program under Risk MAP. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in flood risk analysis, hydrology and hydraulics, and coordination with state and local partners.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree or equivalent combination.
• Bachelor-level knowledge through calculus and core engineering courses.
• Professional registration/licensure (PE/EI/EIT) or FE exam demonstrated.
• Alternative curricula accepted with sufficient engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead floodplain mapping studies and apply regulations and guidance.
• Manage flood risk analysis and mapping projects for NFIP Risk MAP.
• Coordinate hydrology, hydraulics, surveying and data collection activities.
• Engage with state/local stakeholders to support community flood risk reduction.
