Job summary

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is seeking a Supervisory Emergency Management Specialist (Mitigation) to lead the Floodplain Management and Insurance Branch in Region 3. You will guide staff, oversee NFIP-related work, and provide technical assistance to partners and communities.

The role requires extensive risk reduction leadership, regulatory guidance, and collaboration with states, localities, and federal partners.

Qualifications

Experience leading floodplain management and NFIP within a federal or similar environment.
Strong supervisory and staff development skills.
Ability to guide staff, evaluate compliance, and advance long-term risk reduction.

Responsibilities

Supervising and managing staff within the Floodplain Management and Insurance Branch.
Providing oversight of work and technical assistance on NFIP challenges.
Engaging in NFIP-related risk reduction programs (CRS, CAP-SSSE, Risk Map, HMA).
Providing subject matter expertise to support state partners and local communities.
