Job summary

US Army Corps of Engineers seeks a Civil Engineer with geotechnical expertise to support flood risk reduction projects, including levees, outlets, pumping stations, and detention basins. You will provide expert analysis, design reviews, and rehabilitation planning for large, complex structures with life-safety implications.

Required are an ABET-accredited engineering degree and appropriate licensure (PE/EI/EIT or FE). Some travel and background verification are expected.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering with ABET accreditation (or equivalent) and licensure eligibility.
Professional registration such as PE/EI/EIT or passing the FE examination, or other accepted licensure per state rules.
Combination of education and experience with demonstrated engineering science background is acceptable when supported by credentials.

Responsibilities

Perform inspections, risk assessments, and rehabilitation of flood risk reduction projects such as levees, outlets, pumping stations, and detention basins.
Provide expert-level technical support for analysis, design, technical review, construction, operation, and rehabilitation of flood risk reduction projects.
Review engineering products to ensure compliance with criteria and sound engineering principles.
Engage in geotechnical engineering work involving complex features and innovative design solutions.
Review decision documents and recommend actions for life-safety critical, high-hazard flood control structures.
