Job summary

Bohler’s West Hartford, CT office is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer ready to advance technical leadership. You’ll own site design, grading, utilities, stormwater management, and permitting, ensuring quality, constructability, and compliance across high-profile Greater Hartford projects.

You will design and review complex plans, perform hydrology calculations with Civil 3D, and mentor junior staff while coordinating with clients, contractors, and regulators. PE is a plus; EIT in progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline).
• 5+ years of experience in land development design and permitting.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software.
• Knowledge of local zoning, permitting, and construction requirements.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• PE license beneficial; EIT required or in progress.

Responsibilities

• Design and review grading, drainage, and utility plans for complex sites.
• Conduct zoning research and site feasibility analyses.
• Support project coordination with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Review design deliverables for accuracy, quality, and compliance.
• Collaborate with and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
• Perform hydrology, stormwater, and earthwork calculations using AutoCAD Civil 3D and design software.
• Contribute to project budgeting, workload planning, and task coordination.
