Job summary

Bohler Engineering Group seeks a Senior Civil Design Engineer for its Melville, NY team to lead site design efforts across Long Island. You will own grading, drainage, utilities, and permitting, ensuring design quality, constructability, and regulatory compliance.

You will serve as a technical leader and mentor for junior staff on high-profile projects. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in land development design, strong AutoCAD Civil 3D skills, and a good grasp of local zoning and permitting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on land development.
• Proven experience in site design, grading, utilities, and permitting.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software.
• Familiarity with local zoning, permitting, and construction requirements.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and review grading, drainage, and utility plans for complex sites.
• Conduct zoning research and site feasibility analyses.
• Support project coordination with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Review design deliverables for accuracy, quality, and compliance.
• Collaborate with and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
• Perform hydrology, stormwater, and earthwork calculations using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Bohler’s Melville, NY office is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer who’s ready to take the next step in technical leadership. In this role, you’ll be deeply involved in all aspects of site design, grading, utilities, stormwater management, and permitting, while helping ensure design quality, constructability, and compliance. You’ll serve as a trusted technical resource for your team and contribute to the success of complex, high-profile projects across Long Island.

What You’ll Do

• Design and review grading, drainage, and utility plans for complex sites

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
• 5+ years of experience in land development design and permitting
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software
• Knowledge of local zoning, permitting, and construction requirements
• Detail-oriented approach with strong problem-solving and communication skills
• PE license beneficial; EIT required or in progress
