Job summary

Sweeney is seeking a civil construction site superintendent to oversee projects from excavation through paving and utilities. You will coordinate crews, equipment, materials, schedules, and field operations to align with plans and safety standards.

Work with project managers and field staff to maintain progress, address field conditions, and keep projects on time and within budget while ensuring quality and compliance across phases.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years experience in excavation trade.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in excavation and construction of highways, roads, infrastructure, and concrete foundations.
• Reliable, responsible, and dependable.
• Willing to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction.
• Able to accept criticism and handle high-stress situations calmly.
• Pleasant demeanor and cooperative attitude.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Coordinate heavy equipment and field resources based on changing project needs and site conditions.
• Interpret construction plans, specifications, schedules, and project requirements.
• Assign work, coordinate crews, and provide clear direction as field priorities change.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, inspectors, and field personnel.
• Evaluate unexpected site conditions and determine practical next steps as work progresses.
• Maintain a strong commitment to safety, quality, organization, and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Read and evaluate construction schedules.
• Foresee and resolve schedule and personnel conflicts.
• Coordinate, supervise, and manage personnel and equipment.
• Oversee and manage project budgets.
• Develop and maintain constructive working relationships.
• Coordinate subcontractors and field activities to minimize workflow conflicts.
• Monitor workmanship and materials for compliance with project plans and specifications.
• Coordinate required inspections and testing throughout construction.
• Help maintain compliance with company safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements.
