Job summary

Kimley-Horn in Richardson, TX is seeking a Civil Design Technician with 6+ years of experience to join our Discipline team. You will implement drafting standards, develop complex drawings, and supervise CAD staff while coordinating activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control.

The role requires advanced knowledge of Autodesk or Bentley products, the ability to work independently, and a strong team-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6+ years of relevant experience in civil design or drafting.
• High School diploma or equivalent; an associate degree is preferred.
• Ability to set up and manage printing/plotting settings.
• Advanced knowledge of Autodesk or Bentley products.
• Strong work ethic with good communication and writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; willing to mentor others.
• Detail oriented with a professional attitude and self-starter mindset.

Responsibilities

• Implement and manage drafting and plan preparation standards.
• Develop technical drawings and plans of substantial complexity.
• Quality check drawings and may perform multifaceted calculations.
• Provide day-to-day tasks with minimal supervision.
• Mentor and supervise CAD staff; coordinate activities to meet schedules.
• Maintain drawing database and ensure quality control.
• Familiarize with Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards.
