Job summary

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor Degree from a recognized Law School.
• A license to practice as an Attorney and Counselor for the courts of the State of New York.
• At least five (5) years of full-time experience in the practice of law, after graduation from a recognized Law School.

Responsibilities

• Oversees routine litigation handled by junior attorneys in lower courts and on appeals.
• Commences and defends litigation on behalf of the City of Buffalo in city, county, state and federal court proceedings.
• Prepares opening statements, arguments and briefs; negotiates settlements and advises superiors.
• Prepares and presents arguments at judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative proceedings; provides training and assistance to junior attorneys.
