General Motors in Warren, MI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate cloud-based CI/CD platforms and embedded software testing tools to support GM’s production and virtualized test environments.

You will enable automated builds, headless execution of test cases, and end-to-end deployment automation, collaborating with cross-functional teams across development, test, IT operations, and cybersecurity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in software tools, platform, or infrastructure development with DevOps/CI/CD and cloud-based apps.
• Strong expertise in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and services, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, and at least one of C, C++, or Java.
• Solid understanding of embedded software development tools and build processes.
• Knowledge of test automation for virtual and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD for multi-component systems.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration in Agile/DevOps environments.
• Ability to lead or drive complex projects with ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for embedded software production.
• Architect, implement, and operate cloud-based platforms hosting build, test, and virtualization capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement build, test, and deployment automation practices.
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and security of pipelines and cloud platforms.
• Integrate pipelines with physical and virtual test environments for automated test execution.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of virtualization platforms and cloud services.
• Monitor pipeline/platform performance and drive data-driven improvements.
• Troubleshoot issues across builds, pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
• Provide guidance, documentation, and training on CI/CD and virtualization topics.
• Work with IT ops, cybersecurity, and suppliers to meet policies and standards.
• Deliver platform updates and roadmaps to leadership and partners.
